Rescuing a print half way through/changing filament

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had tips on rescuing a print half way through. I recently encountered a scenario where the print spool ran out mid print. It continued to air print for a while before I discovered this.

I was able to figure out the layer it got to but couldn't easily see a way to make the job start at that layer.

I modified the gcode and loaded it into repetier host but the x/y calculations where a little off and I couldn't get it to work (spent about 3hrs trying).

Hoping someone here has had to rescue a print or change filament halfway through like this before and can share tips/tricks.

Thanks. I'll check that post out. Try as I might, I couldn't yield any decent results via the forum search.
