Vert+Horz Wall Thickness

Good day. I am a high school CAD teacher. I managed to raise enough money last Sept to buy an Ultimaker2. I also bought S3D. I have not had too many problems with my UM2 but the problem that I keep having is thin walls, both horz and vertical.
I cannot seem to find the settings to make a 'solid' vertical wall. Many of my walls are too thin. Plus the 'space' in between them make them even more fragile.
My Horizontal layers do not seem to be 'thick' enough either. And I would like to know where those settings are also.
My idea is to build models with more solid exterior walls -- and thicker horz. walls, and deal with the infill as needed. I hope someone more experienced with S3D can suggest something I am missing.

It's very difficult to specific advise in response to very general questions. From your second question I get the sense that you're a complete novice with Simplify3D...and my first bit of advice would be to have a look through the support area of the Simplify3D website and watch all the basic videos.

Regarding the issue you have with thin walls, I suggest you use the forum search and look for threads relating to "thin walls". There are a few settings that affect how thin walls are filled, and if I was to be honest, you need to deal with a specific example of where a thin wall is not being filled correctly, attach a "factory file" to a post here on the forum....and then someone can give you pointers on how to get the best print for that part. Then...knowing how that is dealt with, you're better armed to deal with a thin wall the next time you have one, which will no doubt be somewhat different and need a slightly different approach.

Regarding horizontal walls, they will simply be a number of layers....and the layer thickness is controlled by the Layer tab in the profile.

Unfortunately, 3D printing doesn't live up to the marketing....it's not "buy and print anything"...at least not yet! What it is...is a developing technology where with a little bit of patience, quite amazing things can be achieved.....

Thanks for your advice. I will do alittle 'homework' and go from there. I have used Cura with my UM2 so I like to say I have 'software confusion' sometimes. I have also used Mastercam but that has been awhile. I like the S3D because of the details in the software that I was used to on the Mastercam software. I just need to find out where those settings in the S3D to do what I want. Thanks again.
