merge a gap between 2 objects?

Hi, I have an .stl file here of a ring. The ring has a face that has been placed onto the front of the ring. Cura prints this fine.
But in Simplify it seems to be separating the two objects and the face comes out slightly separated from the ring.

Any ideas how I can get the two to merge as 1 object?

See here - where the red travel lines are the gap I am referring to - https://goo.gl/photos/PLactqLx4iWkxw4A6

That's because the model isn't a valid 3D solid. It's just 2 random meshes that are self intersecting. If you use the cross-section tool, you can see this pretty easily. You need a valid 3D water-tight solid for slicing.

If you want, you can probably work around it by going to Mesh > Separate Connected Surfaces, and then slicing again, but in reality you should try to use good valid 3D solids since this trick will not always work if the mesh is bad.
