Bridging Confusion

Hi Folks,
I am experimenting with bridging and suspect that I not thinking about it properly.

I have a cube that I am printing with one perimeter (.8mm nozzle), 0% infill and some top layers. I would expect that the top layers would bridge, but when I slice the initial top layers show up as solid layers. . . .

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Bridging Confusion

It's only a bridge if there is nothing below that part of your 3D model. It doesn't matter if you use 0% or 50% infill, it is based on the model itself.

Maybe you should hollow out your model instead of using 0% infill. That way they would actually be real bridges.

Re: Bridging Confusion

Thanks for the info.

I'm still not completely sure I understand. Take the attached factory file for example. This is a hollow object, with 0 bottom, and the top layers still are not bridging. . . .

Re: Bridging Confusion

That model bridges fine for me... Switch your preview to "Feature Type" coloring, so that it's easier to see. But frankly, it's a circle. So it doesn't really matter if your bridging or not since there really isn't an ideal direction to print in. All directions would be identical ;)

If you're still having trouble, post your factory file (File > Save Factory File)
