Thin wall not printing

I'm trying to print this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:620394 (the IKEA_light_beam_holder_push_mount.STL). I'd like to rotate the object around X by 90° so that there are no overhangs, but then the tag at the back doesn't appear on the sliced object (or the printed object)

Anyone know what setting is causing this? I sliced a very similar clip with Repetier many months ago without problems.

The skirt looks correct

I had the same problem with this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1065179 this morning, but I thought it was because I'd set the wrong value in OpenSCAD for the WallWidth

Yes. Probably its the size of the nozzle in your printer.

S3D will not generate any slicing for walls that are thinner than the nozzle width. Take a look at this thread:viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3471&hilit=thin+walls

If you want advice about things to try and why this is happening, I would suggest reading this: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... ng-printed

Thanks for the tips Doug & Carl and sorry for not searching more first (I normally use the troubleshooting page) . All clear now, but odd that it worked with Repetier

It printed OK without rotating so I'll stick to that. There's always something new to learn with 3D printing :D

Not really.

Repetier and other slicers behave differently to S3d...or should my comparison be the other way round. Anyway, as I was saying......other slicers will print at the minimum extruder width irrespective of the fact that the wall is actually thinner than the extrusion width. S3D stops extruding if it can't print the thin wall at the correct width. The thread I linked has a discussion as to the relative merits of these two behaviours....and the suggested feature to allow a win-win result in the debate is to have a flag to determine which behaviour is used.
