Simplify3D User Forum

Hello,

I recently purchased simplify 3D to replace Cura and the print quality is really great for my first tests. ( Small prints )
I have printed this sculptverticaly ( +/- 20cm tall ) in several pieces, letters, Zbrush logo and the stone part... Every little piece is clean, but the rocky part has some strange pattern : /
With sand paper I can smooth them out but. How can I avoid them ? Is it normal ?

50mm/s print speed
210 deg celcius
0.1 mm layer height
3 layers for the outer shell
0.25mm print head

Yes, that is normal. You will see lines between each layer of the print. That's just how this type of 3D printing works. It prints layers with finite thickness, so if you have some really shallow overhangs and curves, you're going to see those layer divisions.

OK ... I'll polish it with sandpaper and my dremel in this case. ^^ '

I knew that lines are inevitable with fdm prints... But these lines are perpendicular to the direction of printing. I found it strange at first.
