Dual Extrusion tips

Hello,

I'm looking for advice regarding the dual extrusion process with Simplify3D. Is there somebody to share his profile and their tips ?

Do you use Prime Tower ?
How do you setup the retraction amont before changing tools ?
Have you notice some retractions troubles (I havn't any retraction between my part and the prime tower)
Do you use special Startup Script or Changing Tool Script ?

Thanks for your help.

For now, I can't print something with a best quality in dual extrusion with Simplify3D. I have to use Cura for that... At 150USD the software, it's unacceptable...

Re: Dual Extrusion tips

Dual extrusion works well in S3D. If you have a TAZ, I'd be happy to share...

But for the most part I'm using the default retraction settings, no additional scripts, opted for ooze shield versus prime pillar. Sometimes use both ooze shield and prime pillar... but found my dual extruder is fine with just the ooze shield for priming and cleaning.

It could just be me... if you look in the feature requests, there are a lot of requests for additional dual extruder functionality.

What are you experiencing with the retraction? If its too much ooze, then try lowering the extrusion temp a 1-2C.

Re: Dual Extrusion tips

Same here. Just using the ooze shield has produced some really nice prints. The dual extrusion wizard makes the setup quite easy :D
