Support Material

Hello!

I'm really new to all this, so excuse my potentially obvious question.

I've been using Simplify3D to print on my Makerbot 5th Gen unit, and it's generally going well. My problem is with model that I let the app create support structures, and then trying to remove them.

They aren't coming off easily at all. Am I wrong just using the default settings? Any suggestions on a better approach that doesn't mangle the bottom of all my prints? When I DO manage to get them off, it's often pock marked to hell and back.

Thanks! ;)

Re: Support Material

If the supports are having trouble separating, you may want to increase the number of upper separation layers and also the horizontal separation distance. Those will both help the supports separate easier.

You may also want to try using dense supports. There's a video about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koCVOsRA6Bc
