Printing raft and without raft

Hi , I'm still new to 3D printing and was toying around with Slic3R and S3D.

I was able to print without raft on the Slic3R but with S3D , I just can't print with raft . I've tried drop to table and the nozzle just won't print. It only print with raft and it was good on top but I want it to be clean as well at the bottom.

Any idea what should I do? Off set the Z axis ? By how much?

Are you saying you are unable to turn the raft on and off in S3D? Or are you just saying that it's having trouble extruding the first layer of your print?

Well i would say i have trouble printing first layer without raft. Printing with the raft seems to be worries free but i want a smooth surface.
What should i do to improve my first layer without using the raft. Any magical number and setting for PLA or PLA + ?

Honestly, the more detail you can add the better. Right now it's pretty vague, so it's hard to give helpful suggestions. When you say you're having trouble printing the first layer, that could mean a lot of things...
