Hi
Simplify has a Big Bug with adding New Printer ,
All Proccesses get deleated after adding New Printers
The Procces list should not be touched with adding a new printer ( max should be a new procces with the New Printer pre set in the profiles)
That Bug is creating a lot extra work with creating the proccesses for all profiles again
and special for people who didnt know that all get lost who not create a new profile for each proccess change they did ( I know about 10 People who lost her profiles bec not safed in profile only have in the procces list)
Please remove this bug soon my frinds and I didnt want to add new printers to our S3D anymore bec of the lot work after
br
Thomas

Why do you have so many processes? What are you using all of the processes for?
Printer profiles should be saved using the "Save As New" or "Update Profile" buttons (i.e. saved into the profile system). If you're keeping lots of processes as a way to save settings for different printers, you're not using the software how it was designed to be used.
And yes, the configuration assistant will configure everything for the new machine you select (that's the point of it!). It doesn't delete any of your old profiles. It adds a new profile and then creates a single process using that profile. The processes should only be used to define how you are going to build something. So you shouldn't have tons of processes all the time.

Yikes! Thank you Luchador/Thomas, it sounds like I was about to shoot myself in the foot.
Andrewk72, what is the correct way to save various profiles for various printers?

and also here the same
I didnt talk about profiles and proccesses , I talk about that every time the configuration assitant adds a new profile all procces are deleated
i have multiple procceses for different printers sure I can safe for every one a profile ( what I have to do bec otherwise I will lost all my adjustment )
But I have for every profile now also a proccess for quick choosing ( why should I allways open one process and choose profiles again and again and again)
and also if have multiple proccesses for one print all away after adding a printer
I dont want to change you profile system , but there is no reason for deleating the procceses after adding a printer
so if there is any reason why you delate it please tell us ( I think you cant) but dont say use profiles ( thats not the point)

The standard way of doing things is to save different settings for different printers as profiles (using the "Save As New" or "Update" buttons). This stores those settings in the "Select Profile" drop down list so that they are always internally saved and maintained. It's how the program was designed, so if you have dozens of processes instead, you're just making things more difficult for yourself

There are practical reasons to have multiple processes.
A few mechanical engineering aspects, for instance
- the base of an object may require extra weight for stability
- some parts (sections) of an object may endure more stress in use than other parts of it
A material behavior aspect, for instance
- dual or quad extrusion objects, some colors of filament, even from the same vendor and of the same material, require different extrusion temperatures.
I'm sure people could come up with quite a list.

Yes, absolutely. Those are all great reasons to have multiple processes. It's common to use multiple processes when you really want to customize how you are printing a specific model. Totally agree.
What I do NOT agree with is storing all of your different printer settings as different processes. That's not how the software was made. You should use the profile system for that.

Totally agree...
In fact I'm struggling to understand why anyone would need to repeatably use the Configuration Assistant. I mean....how many times do you need to set up a new printer??? Once you set the printer up, there are default profiles.....and to set up a job to print on printer A, you select a profile for printer A.....and if you want to print to printer B, you select a profile for printer B. Its as simple as that!
And as has been said many times, once a profile has been changed, it can be saved as a new profile that can then be recalled at any time.
Perhaps there are too many p's. If the Process has not been so called, and had been called something else...say Slicing settings....then this thread would not be needed.
