Dear developers,
I had been using slic3r for a long time but now after a few months using S3D I would recommend it to anyone.
Anyway, I still miss some nice features of slic3r that I would like you to consider.
- Speed setting; some settings are possible in S3D, but others not. For example, it is not possible to set a specific speed for the infill. It would be very interesting when printing the infill only every 2 or 3 layers. It happens that when you print the infill every 3 layers the flow rate is multiplied by 3 and can let to problems. In slic3r you can set a different speed for:
* Perimeters
* Small perimeters
* External perimeters
* Infill
* Solid Infill
* Top solid infill
* Support material
* Support material interface
* Bridges
* Gap fill
- Width settings: a similar case happens with the width settings. In slic3r you can set a different width for:
* Perimeters
* External perimeters
* Infill
* Solid Infill
* Top solid infill
* Support material
- Transition between processes: Slic3r is managing this in a very different way, using volumes as "modifiers". I suppose this means a lot of changes in the code but one element that I consider would be very interesting is the possibility to remove tops and bottoms inbetween processes. You may need several tops and bottoms to have a good finishing in the part (i.e. 4 tops and 4 bottoms) but if you have different processes it will print 8 solid layers without any need. This can result in a lot of time wasted.
I hope you consider introducing these changes.
Best regards and congratulations for a great software.
