So you don't want to use Z-lift, but you also don't want to travel on top of the part?? Not sure what to say then...

So there is no other way to not extrude filament while moving then to use Z-lift?

Re: Travel lines over print

So you're suffering from stringing....and not from the nozzle scraping across the tor of the print causing marks!

Re: Travel lines over print

Hi,

I have the same problem. I have a similar object like Dobrikk. If the head is moving from one circle to the other (same layer) no retraction happens which causes a single string on current layer. If the top layer is printed then it is printed on top of this string. And this string keeps visible through the top layer.
Retraction is enabled inside S3D - it seems if the head is over infill then retraction does not take place - how to change that?

What option I have to make my Ultimaker 2 retract when the head moves from one circle to the other but same layer?

Thanks...

Hi,

I am still waiting for any kind of help on this issue.
May teh S3D team can help? Do they support this forum with their knowledge?

Not wishing to be rude....but I did suggest what your problem is and provide a link to the relevant section of the S3D quality guide. You have neither acknowledged my advice nor reported back on whether the comprehensive advice given in the quality guide has helped.

Nobody knows what the settings are that were used in the print...so how can we suggest what changes to make?

If you've tried the suggestions in the above guide and are still having problems, post your factory file and ask nicely for some help.

Re: Travel lines over print

Hi dkightley,

thanks for reply. But if you read carefully my post I already said that I don't have any problems with stringing or oozing if printer prints two small towers which are a few centimeters away from each other. So your advice was not helpful in my case since stringing or oozing is not the problem.
It seems retraction works only if printer moves from an object to another one or from one part of an object to another part of same object where air is in between. What I need is retraction if printhead is doing travel moves acrross the first layer and/or infill.

Thanks again...

Re: Travel lines over print

Sounds like you need to disable "Only retract when crossing open spaces" in the advanced options tab.

Re: Travel lines over print

Hi

if you disable "Only retract when crossing open spaces" it will impact all layers of a whole model (and as result - increase print time), but it makes mostly sense to disable "Only retract when crossing open spaces" only for surfaces (top and bottom) - how it possible to do in S3D?

Thank you in advance!
