Cannot Auto Arrange on Mac OSX

Just reporting it as a bug.

I have a Flashforge Creator Pro. I installed Simplify3D 3.1 on both Windows 10 and Mac OSX. I can import .stl files just fine on the Windows System, but the same STL files do not load on Mac. The software indicates that the model is too large. Once I create a New factory file, sometimes the problem goes away. Sometimes creating a New factory file simply crashes the Simplify3D. I think this has something to do with how Simplify3D loads the printer bed's STL. In another words, if I see a generic box instead of the Printer's bed on the screen the software works OK (for a while).

I guess I can only Simplify things on Windows until these bugs are ironed out. :-(

If you search around, this appears to be a longstanding intermittent issue with OSX & Simplify3D (only happens to a few people - I have a Macbook that it works fine on). The usual advice is to drag the STL into the graphics window and load it that way.

Yeah I just stared having this issue as well. I never had this problem prior to the update. Another major issue that I began encounter with the update is that when more than two models are placed on the build plate, only two of them are visible at a time. The only way to make another one visible is to select the move tool, clik the area where the model is supposed to be, and then the model will show up. Once that new model is active, another of the unselected ones disappears from view.

I have also noticed some graphical artifacting where a cobbled bit of triangles appears, but cannot be selected and is not visible over the build plate (only against the background).

Boy oh boy, some update. Guess it'll only be another 6 months until a new update.

Thanks for the tip dorsai. This appears to have alleviated a lot of the issues i mentioned above. Not sure why it behaves this way, but oh well i guess. Im just glad there is a work around.

This helped a lot. I have a fresh install, and the import worked for a day or so and suddenly stopped to work with a "model is too big" type of error. Drag and drop worked for me.

This occurs on the Mac version when the Process, G-Code, Update Machine Definition tick box is unticked.

For some or other reason, the machine dimensions on that tab govern the import behaviour.

As soon as I ticked the box, I could import STL models. Took a few months to work out.....
