As standard the angle is 45° and next layer crosses the first layer.
There is a dialogue for "infil Angle Offsets", but that one influences only the Internal Fill Pattern.
So I have to rotate the model, which has the disadvantage that the pattern direction does not follow the direction of the axes (UM2)

Is there a function to change the angle of the "External Pattern"?

Well, this is exactly the problem I am having as well, except I can't rotate the part due to its size. Since it has been 7 months since the original post, maybe something has changed and someone can help us get to where we would like to be.

Unfortunately not. On he bright side, there is a workaround, but slightly tedious

1. Split the process based on height into 2 or 3 sections
2. For the bottom and top sections, set the Top and bottom layers to 0 and use infill as the external fill. You caan set infill to 100% and basically select whatever pattern or angles you want.

i do have the same problem, but i think the proposed workaround doesn't work in this case.

to achieve best adhesion for nylon and abs filament, i first print a thin sheet of petg at the print surface (200µm).
then i alter the live z-adjustment value to my optimized value + 200µm, change the filament to nylon or abs and print onto the previously generated petg sheet.
this works really well and i don't need to mess around with glue stick or kapton tape.

but the disadvantage is that the external infill direction is exactly in the same direction... so the bottom layer of the nylon or abs is not as planar as it could be and removing the petg sheet sometimes is a pita.

from the raft idea, an orthogonal infill of the petg sheets bottom layer to the abs/nylon objects bottom layer would be much better.

any idea ?

update:
sorry, didn't get the point of the workaround properly at the first view.
now i got it and it works, of course.
i simply had to set top layer & bottom layer to 0 and use the infill settings (-> with 100% infill) to change the orientation.
