Changing extruders question

Hi,

I am going to be installing new Flexion dual extruders on my QIDI and am wondering about the FFF Profile in S3D. What do I need to consider or do? Should I use the Fl;ashforge profile they (Flexion) has or just tweak the settings for the QIDI profile that is in S3D?

Re: Changing extruders question

In case anyone was wondering I have completed the upgrade to Flexion extruders on my QIDI. It was fairly straight forward. So far I am using the default QIDI profile in S3D and making small changes to tweak things back in.

Overall a good and straight forward upgrade.

Re: Changing extruders question

Are these new extruders working well for you?

Just got my QIDI up and going a week ago so still fiddling with stuff.

Printing mostly 1/100 models for wargaming with some 1/285th stuff as well.
Buildings and larger vehicles, was wondering if the Flexions might help with that.

Thinking I need a smaller nozzle for some things.

thanks for the help elsewhere as well.

Re: Changing extruders question

I actually took them off for now. I felt I wasn't getting as good an overall print as with the stock setup. Maybe I was being to fussy! They did work and once you get some things figured out they do good. I am still not sure what was going on in my case. I am looking to get a used Flashforge Creator Pro to set them up on since that is what the company tests them on. I have a new FFCP but do not want to take it apart right now!

Did you have any issues with the size of the barrel on the QIDI hotend? I was told the barrel is much smaller than the stock barrel, so the second hotend (Stock one on the other side) doesn't fit very well.

Re: Changing extruders question

I have the Creator Pro (2016) and installed the right hand side only along with the radiated heat break along with a flexion heat block on the left side as well. Works fan flipping tastic!!!! Worth it! I kept the original right (bowden set up) for harder materials. Probably getting a Palette 2 Pro so I can have 4 colors on the flexion.
