Speed control

Why are we limited to only solid infill speed control in S3D? I am using a large diameter nozzle to print large objects (.8mm) and my extruder has a hard time keeping up with regular infill using 100% widths or more. At normal printing speeds the infill bead has gaps because the volume requirement is so high. However I can't specify a slower speed for regular infill only solid infill. Why is this the case? Please provide the capability to control standard infill speed. Of course I can reduce the default speed but that slows down regular perimeters which are not problematic.

Re: Speed control

Your standard infill speed is controlled by the default printing speed. Everything else is a percentage (usually reduction, but can go either way) of the default print speed. So if you want slower infill, slow down the default printing speed.

Don't want to slow down other print speeds, just infill. I guess I can use numbers greater than 100% elsewhere and slow the default but that still makes the inside perimeters slower than they need to be so it's still a negative.

I have no idea why they don't let you control the speed of everything in S3D. No reason not to provide that capability.

But, like you've seen, you can control the speed of everything (well, except certain parts of rafts, but no one uses those in 2016, right?). It's just that the outline speed is a transition between infill and perimeter speeds.

Re: Speed control

You can already change the speed of the infill, outlines, top and bottom solid layers, support structures, bridging, first layer, and rapid movements. What else is there?

So if you need to make adjustments to any of those things, you can already do it from the process settings.

Uhmmmm exactly what I asked for? Speed control of the non-solid infill !

Damn, you're dense....

I'm dense? I don't want to control non-solid infill by altering the default print speed because then other printed stuff is effected? How hard is this to understand? Seriously if you're looking for dense go find a mirror.

Re: Speed control

If I change the default speed outlines are slowed down as well. On a large print this can change the time to print by a day. What's wrong with you people? Seriously.

Re: Speed control

Yes, if you change the default speed, you change the other speeds. Fortunately you have full control over those speeds as well!

The infill is generally the fastest part that is printed, so it makes sense to have that be the fastest speed in the print and slow everything else down from there. Might be nice to have defined speed values rather than percentages, but then you just have the opposite problem, where things don't automatically change when you change the default speed of the print, potentially ruining something like a TPU print when you turn down the main speed but forget to change, say, support speed or something.
