Supports not generated at expected locations

I've got this lamp head I like to print. It needs some supports. Most of them are generated as expexted, but some of them are not. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong here. The angle is nearly 90 degrees, so I would expect them to generate. The structure needs supports between the layers 0.5mm and 3.4mm inside the rim. Now the printing failes after a few min already. I there maybe a minimal height for supports?

The file is too large to upload. Here's a link to it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/388 ... ad.factory

Thanks,
Joost

Maybe you should post a screenshot of exactly which section you're talking about. I just downloaded the file and all of the generated supports look fine to me

Sorry about that here's a screenshot. Supports also do not show up after slicing. Its printing in mid air now.

Your arrow is pointing inside of the model. That's already going to be filled with plastic, so you can't have supports there.

Keep in mind that the cross section is just cutting the surface of the model in half, so you have to be careful that you are aware of which surfaces are external and internal to the model.

Again, I looked all around your model a second time, and I still can't see any areas where there are problems with supports. So perhaps it's just a confusion with what the cross section is actually showing..

The area was actually not being filled with plastic. But that was the clue. For some reason the interior infill was set to 0. That's why it failed. Stupid me.
Thanks for the assistance!
