I'm not sure exactly how to describe this. I'm printing a medallion with about 0.75mm of raised text on top. As usual, S3D does an amazing job, but I noticed something a little odd that, if changed, might produce slightly better, faster prints. Here's a text layer (there are 5 layers of text, all very similar, layer settings are for solid bottom 3 and top 3 layers):
The layer directly underneath is the flat portion of the medallion, however, it's printed like this:
Instead of like this:
I don't see any advantage to the first/current way (except maybe an infinitesimal filament savings), but it does increase print time and provide lots of opportunities for the surface to look less perfect than it could.
Maybe there should be an option to always solid fill inside areas with a surface area below xx.xx mm^2. Or a volume below xx.xx mm^3. I think either option would simplify this print and make it print slightly better at the same time.
You guys know a lot more than me, though - perhaps there's a better way still!
