Gcode viewing slow on an ATI graphics card.

Hello,
I've got an iMac with a ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB. Viewing Gcode on my machine is extremely slow, some times taking minutes to view complex parts. My current workaround is linking the sliders and previewing by layer. I've seen how well it can work on nvidia based cards with no lag (an older quadro fx card from 2009).
Any advice?
Computer specs:
iMac 27-inch, Late 2009
Creator version 2.0.1
OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB

hmmm well i am running the late 2009 imac as well. 2.66 i5. i have the exact same graphics card. when i first got creator a few months back i think it was 1.1.5 i had the same issue. preview was so slow it was unusable. i had to go into preferences/visualization then turn the setting to low detail. i ran like that until the recent 2.0 upgrade never trying the high setting again just assuming it was my computer. with 2.0 it automatically got switched back to the default high detail but suddenly it worked completely fine. i have no issues now with the high setting. its fast and smooth just like you would expect. i dont ever use the animation part of it with the tool showing. i only have table checked. all the other stuff i think unnecessary most of the time. its very odd. i know this has been no actual help and i dont know what to tell you to do other than remove creator and reinstall it to see if there is a difference.

Thanks Jimc,
I'll give a re-install a shot and your suggestion to reduce the display quality was a huge help, I was going nuts waiting for minutes to get a redraw on large parts...
