Hole left in top

I have a model (G-Code attached for preview) that when I print, it leaves a hole at the top of the back (it's a model of a cat created by a 12 year old!) where I would expect it to fill with as a top solid layer and zero infill. I'm slicing it as 6 top and 6 bottom and 3 outline/perimeter shells. Anyone have an idea of what I'm missing that would cause it to do that?

NB: I'm happy to be back on the platform on Mac after having issues with the Linux Version.

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Hole left in top

are you talking about what is seen in green? if so then that is right. its not a hole. that is a solid infill. print it and see. it just shows up green because those lines are being printed slower.

Re: Hole left in top

Thanks for the comments. I'm surprised that it's not being printed as a top solid, 6 layers/ If you preview the gcode what you see is that this is left as is and the areas around it get ~ six solid layers. This particular area is low in height then the neighboring areas but still is the top skin of the model at that point. It's only being printed with one layer.

(I realize about the color code for speed)

Re: Hole left in top

because what happens is when you have an area that curves over, its made by the walls not the top cap. your side/perimeter walls keep stepping over more and more to make the shape of the model. once you get to where to make that shape the steps become so far apart that it leaves a gap then it caps with the zig zag. if you print that with say a 20% infill then that green area should still be solid across when printed. which is what is shown in your preview. it basically caps that area so you arent left with holes showing your 20%. man i think im confusing myself lol, does that make sense :? this was fixed in v2.0. in the older versions what you saw in green there would have actually been 20% not the 100% as seen in your preview. i have old prints i did on 1.1.5 with 15% infill where the side walls stepped over real far like that and i could stick my finger into the model. i think they did a good job at fixing the capping and eliminating holes even though it looks odd or give the impression that its not doing it in the preview.

Re: Hole left in top

You are making sense. As you say, if I'm understanding... the slicer sees this is a continuation of the perimeter and not the top. What would of been some ways to avoid this? I'm guessing that with a little bit of infill (despite wanting the model hollow) it's would of closed it up more (I'll experiment with that a bit).
