Extremely slow save toolpaths to disk/usb after slicing

I've noticed that sometimes, specially for "complicated" structures like:

Simplify3D goes into a "not responding state for up to several hours before eventually doing the job.
I've reproduced the problem both in OSX and Windows.

I have a Macbook pro running el capitan with 8 Gb of ram.

Anybody else having this issue?
