X-Axis Jog Control on Creatr

Hi,

Another bug I've noticed is that for some reason the X-axis jog control doesn't function properly for the left side increments. It will accept one input and all other left move commands will go ignored.

Anyone else experienced this?

Doesn't work for me either. Except in my case hitting the left jog control moves the print head to the right. Not a big deal but does seem to be a bug. The old version did the same thing.

Re: X-Axis Jog Control on Creatr

I also have a Creatr connected with S3D ver 2.0.1 and do not see the problems you have experienced on the Jog Controls. I have double checked and no problems what so ever.

As there are many problems possible with the serial interface and the drivers I would be tempted to believe that this is where you may need to start searching. For example I have hard wired the ground of my computer with the chassis of the Creatr and this seems to help a lot in preventing communication errors and stalls. Still I have made a number of extra modifications to the electronics (board) of the Creatr, including making a common ground within the chassis in order to prevent all types of unwanted ground-signal-noise I noticed on the signals. I also added a step-down-converter, providing a separate power to the board, instead of relying on the USB/computer to power the Creatr electronics.

Not sure you are able to 'improve' your Creatr as I have done, however as a active Creatr/S3D user I can only confirm that the problem is not within Simplify3D software.

Re: X-Axis Jog Control on Creatr

Okay I'm going to say at this point that it might be a firmware bug. (Not an expert here.) I'm using the original firmware.
The left jog control works fine until I turn on the heater for the left extruder. After that ALL of the left jog buttons move the print head about 10mm to the right.
I get the same result using Repetier host.

If I turn off the heater, disconnect and then reconnect it's okay until I turn the left heater on again.

See my posting on the http://creatrtips.freeforums.org/common ... -t128.html as what you experiencing is most likely not a firmware problem, however a noise problem on your USB signals and board caused by a common ground problem. This also explains why it happens more often when you have the heater on.

Arno,
Power supply noise due to grounding may be an issue.
However I would think if that was the case the problem would go away when the heaters are turned off. (I'll have to double check that this evening.)
Thanks.

Just as an FYI, I am not aware of any past or current firmware issues in the Marlin code. I have been using several versions of the Marlin and never have seen anything that looks like your problem. Keep in mind that Creatr is using a 'modded' version of Marlin. As you can expect they do not always use the latest version, still to my knowledge I have not seen anything in the past updates on Marlin that would suggest it is a firmware problem.

Re: X-Axis Jog Control on Creatr

So a little more testing.
I printed a part and afterwards the left jog problem was there.
I hit disconnect in the software, turned the printer off, and unplugged the usb cable from the computer.
I waited 60 seconds, hooked everything back up and hit connect in Creater.
Without turning any heaters on the left jog problem was still occuring.
To get things working normally I had to restart Creater.
I did this more than once with the same results.

As I said before it's not just Creater.
It also doesn't always happen as soon as I turn the heaters on.
