safely move nozzle

Hi, I have a Prusa I3 printer, now when I print it will home the nozzle first on the right side, then it will move to the left side to print a test line.
the move from the right to left is only 1mm away from the print bed. Now my question is:

- Can I tell the printer to raise the nozzle first before moving over the printbed?

- Can I tell the printer to do the test line on the right side of the printbed?

is this possible? is this something that can be changed with S3D or do I need to do this in the Marlin firmware?

Re: safely move nozzle

To raise the nozzle before each move, just set the "Retraction Vertical Lift" value on the Extruders tab to something other than zero. For example, if you set it to 2mm, it will lift 2mm before every move. You may also want to go to the Advanced tab and disable "only retract when crossing open spaces" since you need it to retract before lifting (otherwise the extruder leaves a mess)

For your question about changing the prime line location, that's just your starting script. So go to the Scripts tab and edit the XY values for the G1 commands to match the coordinates you want.
