Simplify 3D has never started correctly on my Surface Pro 3. Despite a few back-and-forths with support, the program still has a problem checking in with Simplify's server to verify the account. It almost never starts right away although once in a blue moon it does. It usually takes from 30 minutes to maybe an hour if it starts at all. I'm no stranger to CAD programs (used them for a living at Intel Corp) and everything about this particular problem points to a program in need of improvement. I've taken all the usual steps to try and remedy the situation (which I shouldn't have had to do in the first place) regarding system admin, firewalls, any kind of security protection, you name it.
At last I have found a work around to get the program to boot inside of a couple of mouse clicks. Once I click the icon to start the program normally, the trick is to go into the Simplify3D directory and double click the "vcredist_x64.exe" file. I get an error message as a result but all I have to do is click past the message and the program opens immediately. Maybe Simplify's programmers can use this bit of info to troubleshoot their program.
