Finish layer

Would be great if I could print an object at 200 microns and finish the last 3 layers in 100 microns or less.
Would make for a fast print with a nice finish.

Re: Finish layer

You can do that with two processes. The first one prints most of the model, the second prints the last layers. However, you need to limit the processes by height, for instance you set the first process to print from 0 to 24.7 mm, then the second from 24.7 to 25 mm (if your model was 25 mm high). The processes are independent from each other, so you can change basically whatever setting you want, including the layer height.

S3D has an article about this too:

Re: Finish layer

Thanks
That will work
But it would be nice to have a check box and another window for finish but I can work with two processes.

Re: Finish layer

I 3d print insoles, and would love to have a possibility to change last layers for a more smooth surface. The reason being that the insoles have curves (stairs) as shown on the pictures. I print with high speed and large nozzle, but then the contours become very visible. I can't really use a process only for the last layers, because of the curving shape. Any suggestions to how I can improve the print (minimise the contours)?
