S3D PLA defect fix

Hi all,

I'm trying to tweak in my S3d profile settings for PLA using my lulzbot mini. I loaded the latest profile and I've been noticing some defects I can't get rid of, yet Cura seems to handle things perfectly. If anyone has some suggestions on how I could fix these small issues, please let me know.

So far I've tried turning down the flow rate %, I've increased retraction from 1.5 to 1.7, I've tried extra cooling, I've tried adding Zhop (This is actually why cura shows stringing...Adding Zhop increased stringing in S3D as well on a different print)

I'm not sure what else to try. Any suggestions?

Thanks

It looks like it's most likely your retraction settings since the dots seem to be at the start or end of the perimeters. So this is a good guide to start with: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... s-and-zits

Re: S3D PLA defect fix

I've upped my retraction distance a bit without any change at all to the print.

Would you suggest I try messing with "extra restart distance" and, since it looks like it's over extruding, put in a slight negative number to prime the nozzle less?

Thanks

Yup, that's one thing you can try. The link above explains how to determine if you should be using negative extra restart or coasting, so be sure to give it a good read ;)
