Bridges not processed

I've been struggling getting s3d to recognize bridges and apply the appropriate settings. I have a model with a larger bridged area, but s3d didn't treat it as such.

I've linked to screenshots with my settings. Any ideas?

You can try adjusting the bridging area threshold, but keep in mind that in S3D, the perimeters will use the perimeter overrides, and the bridging overrides are only used for the infill. So if your part is small enough that it doesn't have any infill, that could be why it's still using the perimeter settings

Which is really something that needs to be addressed. Oddly enough, I was just logging in to see if there was some news of changes on this front. At the moment we have a half baked implementation for control over bridges. This has been discussed in several past threads as well. Unfortunately we have no way of getting a nice bridge since in almost all cases, a bridge contains at least one perimeter (and in most cases several). Basically, we don't actually have control over them despite being an advertised feature. It affects many areas and many circumstances where completing this feature would solve many problems. For instance, just this morning I was creating a small part out of a material that needs to be printed slow. So slow that bridges are a disaster. In this case I would need to speed up bridges, but unfortunately it's impossible to get a clean print. Without resorting to manually GCode editing (which was incredibly time consuming for this part).

PLEASE address this and finish implementing bridge control. It's almost there and really should be high priority for a feature that was added, sold, but never completed.

Requesting with kindness, desperation, and only a hint of constructive criticism/frustration ;)

Agreed, this is very frustrating as I struggle in getting a decent bridge on some parts, I shouldn't have to fill the part entirely just get a decent roof. Here are pictures of kirby's head. And no matter what I set for bridging threshold, S3D refuses to treat this as a bridge. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm tweaking slicing settings for tpu, so having this fine control is crucial.

Hey Shaiss. Yes, it's very frustrating. Though your particular issue is slightly different. Your features would be considered more "top solid layers", as defined by the control in the layers tab. I agree however that it would be nice to have a some new exception controls for those as well. Be aware, top layers are completely self supported structures. In other words, they do not tie into perimeters. Which is why infill or other design features are needed. Unlike bridges which are tool paths that span between surfaces/edges over an unsupported area outside of the model (ie. not able to supported by infill). The issue being that even in those situations, simplify doesn't identify these as "bridges" when they are also perimeters. So no matter what, these present an area we have no control over and result in 100 percent failure.
