Simplify3D User Forum

Hi !

New to 3D printing, found my way to Simplify3D and am having trouble with one of my extruders oozing onto the first layer of a print. The Ooze shield prints after the first layer of my object, it appears that the ooze shield is actually printing with the second layer?? if it printed first, then i think the ooze shield would do its job and protect the first layer.

I attached the factory(?!) file.

The ooze shield seems to work best for dual extrusion prints, since it always prints before the next extruder is used. So if you had both extruders being used on the first layer, the first one is already going to be primed through the starting script, so then the ooze shield gets used before the second one to make sure it's ready to extrude.

If you want something that prints before the first extruder is used, I would recommend the skirt. That's what it's intended for. You can add multiple skirt layers if you want it to be a taller skirt.
