[Request] excluding some models from rafting

Hello there,

first, i'm new to this ;)
I've been working with your software for 2 weeks now and have to say that's it's doing a real good job on our
German RepRap X400.

One thing i'm trying to for could be, when i'm printing different models, some in need of rafting and others
could miss the raft, that i want to disable the raft for this models.
I tried the search for it, but didn't find something fitting on my problem, so if there is a solution out there for it
i'm sorry. But if not, it could be an interessting option.

Thanks for your support, keep on your good work and

best regards

Just setup 2 processes and make sure to turn the raft off for one of the processes.

Hello brian442,

thx for your hint, tried it out last print and got an interesting result.
My model wich should get the raft, got it. Worked fine.
The other models wich should be printed without raft ... mhmm how should i describe it,
they didn't got a raft, but the first 3 layers of them are definetly printed like a raft.

I added a new process and selected my models to the correct process than started the print.
A more detailed look into the preview window and i should been warned, because you can see
this "rafted baselines".

In the moment i'm not sure why this happens. Perhaps someone has a hint for me? ^^'

For the moderators in here, perhaps my thread should be moved to the normal discussion section?

best regards

Perhaps you mean the first layer settings on the Layer tab? For example, if you set the first layer height to 200%, then the first layer of your part without a raft will still be quite thick.

Hello again,

no i don't think that this is the issue i'm searching for.
I'll show you a screenshot, where you can see, what i mean.

As you can see, the right one is the one with raft, but the left one
is getting a base printed like a raft.

Try moving the models further apart. It works for me once they are separate from each other. If they get too close to where the skirts and rafts would overlap, then they can't use different settings.

Hello brian442,

ah, k. I'll give it a try. Until now i let simplify arrange and center the models.
I'm looking forward how it will look more sperated.

Hello again,

hope you had a great weekend ;)

My last try in this problem here ended with a nugget of plastic ...
I cleaned the mess up, startet a new try keeped an eye on it while
printing.
And after a short while the next problem revealed itself.
The printer first made the raft layers, than it drive over to the
none raft layer models. On half of the way i can see in the slicerpreview that
the software is driving the bed up again, makes sense.
But in real, the bed isn't driving up enough, so that the print doesn't get
on the ground.

Edit wants to tell you: German RepRap says, that this is not possible to print, because
there are two 1st layers. They say, everything with raft, or everything without.

I just gave it a try and it works fine in my hands.
Interestingly, S3D builds the raft first, then builds the raftless part up to the height of the raft, and then starts alternating between the parts as usual.
