Tuning new E3D hotend(s)

I have upgraded my Velleman Vertex K8400 by replacing the stock hotend with dual E3Ds.
I am now trying to 'tune' the settings but my first attempts are quite poor.

I think I am suffering from underextrusion and possibly retraction issue with the infill

I attached the factory file - it's based on the printer profile provided with S3D with some modifications that I found in various locations.

I include photos of the bottom,, which I think shows underextrusion, and a coouple of the infill, which is a mess. I used full honeycomb but the first few infill layers looked like fast honeycomb and it got progressively worse. I stopped the print when it started on the top layers as they wouldn't have worked anyway.
This type of infill worked well with the original hotend.

I am using a PrintinZ skin

sorry, had a submit problem.

I have looked at the Troubleshooting guide (several times) and I will study it again, but a general tip/direction would be welcome

This looks pretty similar to your problem:

So try slowing down the default printing speed, increase the extrusion multiplier a bit, and maybe even try a different infill pattern.

Thanks Brian, that was my thinking too

I've been experimenting today and finally (almost) understand the relationship and impact of the various extrusionmultiplier/width and first layer settings.

I also found that if I load the gcode into Octoprint & select the GCode Viewer it's easier to check the results of changes before actually printing.
