Hey guys,

I usually use the first layer speed settings to slow the printer down, otherwise I have problems with adhesion to bed.

I have put the setting at 50% but it only seems to work if I am using a raft!
Have tried using skirt/brim as well as without, but the printer will run the first layer at 60mm/s.

Is there a workaround or fix for this?

Am using Flashforge Creator Pro Dual 2016 model.

I've just checked one of my prints......and the first layer does obey the first layer rule both with and without a skirt/brim.

Are you missing seeing the first layer due to you having a negative global-z setting....and the first layer is hiding underneath the bed surface texture?

Or are you talking about more than a simple scenario where you have one part. Do you have multiple parts printed with multiple profiles, some with a raft and some without a raft???

I don't think its a Negative Z setting as low speed works on prints with a raft. And am not working with multiple profiles.
Should I uninstall and reinstall the software?
Or maybe theres an option I need to change?

I have just tried printing with both a Skirt and a Raft on the same model and it has again ignored the first layer speed setting.
I went back and unchecked the skirt option, and now its printing at the slower speed.

This is driving me nuts lol

I wonder if you have a corrupt profile.

Try finding a profile you know does produce a slow first layer and use that on the target part.

Also, attach a factory file that has the target part and the profile that is going wrong to a post so others can try slicing....

Do you mean printer profiles?
Because I only have 1 printer profile.

Here is a factory file where I tried a Skirt and Raft at the same time. S3d's preview shows the skirt being printed faster. And here is one with the raft only.

Try a reset on the software under help then reload the printer profile. Which profile are you using?

I have tried resetting the settings but will try again.

Profile I am using is Flashforge Creator Pro

I'd rather not use a raft if I could. Especially on large prints to save filament, and sometimes they are a pain to remove. The finish on that surface isnt great either.

Maybe I should upgrade to a glass bed.

The first layer speed is working. Allow me to illustrate on your part.

I've opened your factory file and turned the raft off. I've also added a second layer to the skirt to help with the illustration.

Here's the first layer of the print: According to the speed colour key:-
The outline of the first layer of the part is shown in the darker blue..slightly faster than 300mm/min
The skirt is greener of the lighter blue shades....about 2040mm/min
The first layer of the support is a little slower....say 1800mm/min

Now here's layers 1 and 2: According to the speed colour key:-
The perimeter of the second layer of the part is a bit darker than the first layer of the support in layer 1....about 1000mm/min or thereabouts.
The skirt second layer is bright green....about 4500mm/min.
The second layer of the support is a duller green...about 3000mm/min

To me, this looks like the first layer is about half the speed of the second layer....not a simple scenario that shows the slower speed easily - but I hope this convinces you that it does work.

Now....with that dismissed as not being the cause of a problem you're having, let's turn to what the problem is. Which I believe is that the first layer of the support and/or skirt is not sticking to the bed. If I'm right, try changing the Global Z offset (Gcode tab) to -0.05 and see if the support, etc sticks better. If not, lower by 0.01 and try again...
