I recently found out that Simplify3D started supporting Davinci Jr so I bought it. I like having more control over my prints now and am getting pretty good results but am still learning S3D. One odd thing I've noticed is when saving the file to my computer I get a gcode and a 3w. Is this normal? I only need the 3w with my Jr. Thank you!
Yes, that is normal. The 3w files are completely unreadable, so if you want to have any idea what is going on in the print, you need the gcode files. Those contain all of the settings that were used to generate the file, and it also have each command in plain-text, so it makes debugging much easier if you ever need to check to see what commands went into the file.
In my case for X3G files S3d generates and saves the gcode file first then converts and saves the X3G. All happens pretty fast. Probably a similar thing for you.
