Outline in Space!

This is a bug as far as I am concerned. Any slicing program should have a base understanding that it cannot print where their isn't ANY foundation for the extrusion to hold to. It really wouldn't make any difference what the design is, any 3D printer simply cannot print in open air -- Only in Space could this work.

So, I have asked many times directly to the people over at Simplyfy3D to make a way to have outlines print AFTER the infill is there. The idea is too simple and really I see no reason they are being so stubborn about doing this. It cannot be that hard to do, if you have the code to work with. I have not written code for about 20 years, but I guarantee I could do this if I had the source code to work with.

Take a look at this picture. It pretty much says it all. Now before anyone starts offering suggestions on how I might design this differently, I already know this. Thing is, I can print this just fine using CURA, as the folks at CURA understand you need something to stick the extrusion to, so they offer a checkbox to allow the outlines to be printed AFTER the infill.

How about it Simplyfi3D people. Can you please make a checkbox me?

I know I am asking for too much here, but I am asking for all of us who would like some added versatility and in some cases, the ONLY thing that can allow a part to be 3D printed using Simply3D.

Layer/Outline Direction might help in some cases but is not what you asked for. And this is definitely a needed option since every other slicer has it.

Cura solution is allowing you to select both whether infill comes before perimeter and then whether inside perimeter comes before or after outside perimeter (this is what Simplify3D only allows).

Slic3r allows for "infill before perimeters".

Craftware is the best of all, you can select "everything" :D (and with ability to print raft only under support more and more of my prints go trough it instead trough Simplify3D, if they are to implement variable layer height before Simplify3D I fear for Simplify3D future)
  • [perims->loops] -> [fills]: Start going from perimeters towards loops, then draw the fills.
  • [perims] -> [fills, loops]: Start with perimeters, then draw the fills mixed with the loops.
  • [perims] -> [fills, loops, holes]: Start with perimeters, then draw the fills with the loops and the holes.
  • [fills] -> [loops->perims]: Start with fills, then draw loops reaching perimeters.
  • [fills] -> [perims->loops]: Start with fills, then draw perimeters and do the loops after.
  • [fills, loops] -> [perims]: Start with fills and loops, then finish with the perimeters.
  • [fills, loops, holes] -> [perims]: Start with fills and loops and holes, then finish with the perimeters.
  • [loops->perims] -> [fills]: Start going from loops towards perimeters, then draw the fills.
