hello there,

i have a little part wich my printer didn't completed well.
I thought it could be to small, or i'm using bad options, but than i looked at it in the preview and
there it seems to be sliced wrong?

I sliced the same stl in an other tool and its getting sliced correctly.
Is there a feature i don't know?

All other parts of this went well, but this little thing looks realy broken.
normaly it should look like the solid vew in yellow.

best regards

Okay.....first you need to understand that the slicing preview does not show you what the finished part will look like. What is shows is what the slicer is telling the extruder what to do. This may sound strange......but there is a difference between the two.

The preview only shows where the extruder is actually extruding material. The "gaps" are actually where the extruder drive has been stopped....and in the real extrusion, the extruder is continuing to extrude whilst the pressure inside reduces. To fully see the difference, temporarily turn off both the Coast at End and WIpe Nozzle features and take a look at the preview again to see the difference.

Now we've ruled out what looks like errors in the preview, we need to address the issues with the printed part. You've not said what printer you're using and what material, etc......but its not PLA as the temperature is too high. What does stand out is that on one of the profiles in the factory file (process2)....which I'm assuming may be the profile used in your attached photo.... you have a rather high coast at end value.....which is getting close to 50% of the extrusion run length on some of the parts of the model, and this makes me think that this may be the main issue. The other profile (process1) may give better results...I'm not sure.

Hello dkightley,

you opened my eyes a bit more for this, thank you.

I'm using an GRR X400 with GRR ABS. You're right that i'm using the 2nd process and the coast at end had been until now the best length for printing "normal" parts.
Ok, seems like small ABS parts needs adjustments at this point.

I'll give it a new try with a few settings in this area. Thanks for leading me back on the road. Because the printed result looked like the slicing preview i didn't realize what's going on ^^'
