Spiral Vase Mode V4

I just tried printing a funnel/cone shaped object and selected "Vase mode" I thought that having a spiral perimeter would get rid of the "line" where it starts and stops. But it didn't. It still starts and stops and leaves a line. I cannot find any other setting that sounds like it would apply to this. I normally use coast at end and the preview shows this. But it does it for real without coast at end.
This model was designed as .8mm wall thickness for 1 internal and 1 external wall. Does spiral vase mode only apply to a single extrusion wall ?
I cannot see how it could do a continuous spiral wall with it being 2 extrusions wide, or should it narrow it to single wall ?

I don' get it.
Scott

Vase mode does mean there is a single extruded filament wound in a spiral. So your idea of having a two thickness wall is not possible.

As already said, vase mode is for single wall.
Most times you can use the the option Heal with "Merge all outlines into a single solid model" to get it "vaseable"

To make the wall thicker with one perimeter change the extrusion multiplyer to 1,2-1,4 or change extrusion width to 0.7mm or so. Keep in Mind that changing the extrusion width haves different in slicing than changing extrusion multiplyer. A vase which sould be waterproof you should change the extrusion multiplyer so the slicer makes the distance beween the tracks according to your real nozzle size, so the bottom lines will be squished together (or you can make a bit of both)

Thanks Doug
I kind of thought that "Vase Mode" would override the model and make it 1 extrusion wide.
What would it do if the model was solid ?
How does one get it to work?
Or does the model have to be designed with 1 extrusion wall thickness ?

I do not see why it would not be possible to change layer height and line width in spiral mode. It would still be a continuous single line wall.

You should be able to create multiple profiles.

Rather than modeling the thin wall you want to print, model the part solid. When you select Vase Mode, the interior of the model is ignored and only the outer surface is printed.

Hi,

thank you for provided hints. Is there a chance to print pipe using vase mode ? I have pipe 1mm thick. Without healing it ignores vase mode, but if I choose "heal-Mera all utlines to solid model" it adds bottom and top. Which is not pipe anymore....

Just set the number of top and bottom solid layers to zero. Then it won't have a bottom or a top and will just be a hollow vase.
