not filling rod on ends

For some reason the slicer will not fill-in a round bar all the way through a model. It wants to put a hole in the last two pieces, even though there is supposed to be a bar.

It happened with this thingaverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1394419
So, I made my own, and it did the exact same thing. This must be a setting error, because no one else is getting it.

Looks like you actually have a self-intersecting model there, not a proper 3D solid.

Can you try going to Mesh > Separate Connected Surfaces, or better yet, do a proper boolean union in your CAD package first before you export the STL

Yes using the cross section tool in S3D you can see there are internal faces or intersecting faces in the model. The slicer looks at these and says these are voids.

Also if you Click Repair >> Identify Self intersecting Surfaces you will get a message there are problems.

What did seem to fix it was choose Mesh>> Separate Connected Surfaces.
Run the slicer and observer.

I guess making the slicer aware they are separate bodies allows it to understand the solid volumes better?

Before I saw this I actually fixed my recreation in Solidworks and used my own model.

But thats awesome, I learned something new about printing other peoples models.
