Discontinue parts during a print

While printing multiple models, I’d like to have the possibility to skip further printing of certain models (due to failures or time issues, or running out of filament for example).
Slicing would need to be redone, but the print could continue, sending just the new data from the next layer ?

I've often wanted to do this, for example if the design of one part on a full build plate has changed then continue with the parts we need but not the ones that are obsolete...
