v4 Preferences/FFF files location on a Mac

Hello all,

I have been using S3D for quite some time now and loving it. I had a drive go a bit crazy and I cannot boot to it, where my S3D installation was. I can still access this drive now as an external and the entire file structure is still intact.

I am wondering if it's possible to farm out the critical config and FFF files that I created and bring them into my new S3D install on my working system? Please say yes and how to do so. :)

Thanks much!

Well assuming you can't do the normal File > Export FFF Profile route, then you might have some luck looking at the locations mentioned here:

Thank you for the info and link! Just what I needed. Back up and running now.

Update: at time of writing, the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.simplify3d.S3D-Software.plist has *all* the profiles embedded; copy this file to the same location on a new Mac, and the new s3d will magically have all the old profiles.

My computer crashed, and will not boot. Fortunately I have full TimeMachine backups of my computer. I'm accessing the backups from another machine, and looking through the Library/Preferences directory, and there is no com.simplify3d.S3D-Software.plist
All the plists in this directory are com.apple - this makes me think that only apple plists are allowed in this directory? Anyone know where else I can look for these files?

This is a very old thread and there are many other more recent topics about where V5 stores settings. For reference though, here's a page on our FAQ that shows exactly where the various files are stored:

If you need further assistance, please make a new thread so we can avoid resurrecting these very old ones.
