Support Protruding through object

Simplify3DScreenSnapz001-comp.jpg
I am adding supports to a fairly simple dome shaped model. The supports appear to be protruding through the top of the object. And it slices that way, and, then prints bits of support on top. And, of course it prints that way too. Prusa MK2S, ABS, 0.2 layers until about 2/3 way up then 0.1 for the upper area and spikes.
Is there a way to stop the supports from protruding through the top of the object?
Thanks,

Mike

Re: Support Protruding through object

Try changing the support pillar resolution to 1mm. That works better for small details or thin shells like that.

Also look at the support inflation value (I forget what it is actually called) it is in the left hand column a couple values down. I found that sometimes if I had this a bit too high it caused a similar issue.

Re: Support Protruding through object

Genius! It looks like it was the inflation setting. I had it set higher for a previous print to provide extra support to a narrow overhanging edge.

THANKS!
