Hello!

Today I'm finding that both newly created and previously good files are not rendering the brims. It happened also a week ago but rebooting cleared it up, not this time.

When I re-open old factory files, some show brims and some now have them missing. But even on files where the brim appears to be intact upon opening, if I edit the settings in any way it's gone. If I attempt to print even old factory files which do show a brim (I typically create two brim outlines about 5mm from the part to prime the nozzle), at best only one outline will print, sometimes not even a complete loop.

I'm also noticing, again just today, that retractions are not accurately showing up in the preview -- see image which also shows the missing brim.

I've tried System Restore as well as re-installing with a fresh copy, no help.

Any ideas? I've tried Googling as well as searching this forum.

It's because the bottom of the part is not flat. Right now it has to sit at Z=0.06mm. If you lower the z-axis offset to 0.0mm (placing some of that uneven surface below the bed), then it works fine.

Hi rrdavis, thank you for the reply. That's quite interesting, as is the solution!

And of course you're quite correct, it works. I was puzzled at first as the model (created in Rhino v5) ought to have had a perfectly planar bottom surface as it had been shaped by the boolean subtraction of a box. But I looked more closely and realized that the model was not in this case a watertight closed mesh -- the fillets on the corner holes had broken through the bottom even thought I'd not gotten a "failure to create fillets" after the operation.

So as is so often the case, user error.

How can you see that ?
I'm having trouble where when I skirt to be a brim by reducing the distance to zero - it still leaves a one line space between the skirt(Brim) and the part when it gets printed.

How can you see that ?

The part is "floating": .....and not related to your issue!
