Dremel 3D45 no extrusion comes out

Just got simplify3d and when I try to print, it will go up in temp and begin to print, but nothing comes out.
I have tried change the global offset without any luck.
I got a dremel 3d45.
I have looked for klogged nozzle but fillement runs fine when useing the inbuild cleaning program.

Can you post a photo of the first layer? If it keeps printing the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc layers does plastic eventually start coming out?

Re: Dremel 3D45 no extrusion comes out

I'm having this exact problem. (With this model of printer.)

I use skirts, and the first few passes of the skirt and the bottom layer of the print either doesn't print any filament, or it's very inconsistent and blobby. Seems to be worse toward the middle, and less so at the outer edges.

I also notice that the top layers of the prints appear to be thinner than what I am used to from the Dremel slicing software which is Cura based.

I am certain that this is not a hardware problem since the prints from the Dremel slicer come out perfect every time, and I have printed the same model using the Dremel software and Simplify3d, and everything else is the same. The only difference is in using Simplify3d.

I'm going to go through some of the troubleshooting tips on the troubleshooting page, but if anyone can give me a clue as to what I might be experiencing to help narrow things down, it'd be appreciated. I'm quite new to 3D Printing.

(All that said. the Simplify3d prints are spectacular besides this issue! The supports are easy to remove, and do a great job, and the overall quality of the prints is significantly better than anything else. Great job!)

Re: Dremel 3D45 no extrusion comes out

Compare the starting heights from your two slicing softwares' printing instructions, as I think that the S3D starting height is lower than the Dremel default. It may be printing a little too close to the bed in the center.

If so, tips for salving that are here: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... t-of-print

I'd ignore any references to re-leveling the bed though, as you said the stock software seems to work fine.

Re: Dremel 3D45 no extrusion comes out

Following up here for the next person who searches and finds no answer:

1. You can go through the print quality page here, and look at your symptoms, and do what it says. That is ultimately what I did, and how I solved this.

2. Since all 3D45s will probably have the same problem, here's what I changed to get *perfect* prints:

2a. In "G-Code" tab of advanced settings on the process, increase the G-Code Z-Offset to .10mm. .05 works, but .10mm is better.
2b. In "Layer" tab of advanced settings on the process, change the top solid layer setting to 6 layers
2c. In "Layer" tab of advanced settings on the process, change the Perimeter layer count to 4.

If someone here works at Simplify3d, I recommend updating your profile for the Dremel to reflect these settings. Would be nice if this just worked out of the box.

I do find these settings increase my build times and filament use slightly, but the quality is outstanding, so it's totally worth it.

Re: Dremel 3D45 no extrusion comes out

Using the suggestion below I had to adjust my Z offset by .250mm at least for the ABS prints I have been running.
