[FIXED] Jagged walls causes printer to shake

Hello, been having this problem since the release of 4.0.

When S3D processes a vertical radius it creates a jagged inner wall (see pics below) vs a smooth line which is causing shifting layers from the violent vibration. I have duplicated this several times and is very consistent. In order to correct this I have to either change the infill to concentric or change the Extrusion Width to manual and increase the size to .80

This solution works on larger parts but needs some tweaking on smaller parts as the inner wall diameter changes. I am always having to check STL files for radius anomalies so I can plan ahead which is becoming a real PIA as if I miss one than I risk shifting layers during a long print job.

I know this is not an isolated case and S3D should be aware of the issue and have corrected this by now. I did not have this problem with earlier version of S3D and have been a user for about 3 years now.

Appreciate if anyone has a permanent fix or advise if this has been reported as a bug.

Can you attach the factory file for this print? (File > Save Factory File)

There could be a lot of things going on, but it's hard to tell without having any other files

Is this a sloping wall? See the green color of the "infill"? It is actually top layers being filled in to compensate for the slope of the wall.
I agree there are times this is annoying!

That's solid infill so your inside fillet there has the specified number of top layers. I never thought anything of it. You could change your solid infill pattern to concentric, but that will impact all your top and bottom layers unless you select out that range with a separate process.

This exact scenario came up a week or so ago. The extra "infill" is being generated by the slicer to fulfil either the specified number of top layers or the specified number of bottom layers....and manifests itself where you have a sloping surface...as zemlin has identified.

The cure is to reduce the number of top or bottom layers where there is the sloping surface.....and you may even end up having to use multiple processes.

Yep, that was it! I changed the number of top layers down to 1 and the problem went away. I also tried this on a few other problem parts and this did indeed fix it. Not a tough work around so I will just create a separate process for the top layer. I hope S3D can look at this as its a bit annoying to have to create a separate process for true top layers.

I’m happy to state that this issue should be resolved now in the latest 4.1.0 release. Our team successfully tested similar models as were displayed in your images. The extra solid layer sections are no longer included. This was just one of many improvements to the software. All of which are detailed on our Release Notes page.
