Re: Perimeter Layers Not Adhering

You’re very welcome. This forum has been very helpful to me, and it feels good to give something back. Much of the information in my post was relayed from prior posts from other members. I wanted to correct an error I made in my post yesterday. I incorrectly stated, “This calibration estimated the s...

Re: Perimeter Layers Not Adhering

I was experiencing similar delamination of shell layers in some stuff I was printing in PETG - especially when thinner sections were subject to bending or twisting stresses. I'd had better luck in cases where I could have thinner parts printed directly on the heated bed (I've read that material bond...

Re: Hole Adjust

I suspect that resolution constraints generally cause greater inaccuracy (as a percentage of the designed diameter) as hole size gets smaller. If that's true, there may not be a linear relationship between designed vs. printed hole size (i.e. a simple correction factor may not always get you as clos...

Seeking Updated S3D Setting Explanations

Hi. I really like Simplify3D! Best $150 bucks I ever spent. That said, it seems harder than it should be to find detailed, authoritative explanations for the process settings incorporated with the introduction of 4.0. Leapfrog's generous compilation of S3D Customer Support information from this foru...

Processes vs. Profiles

Hi. I may be thinking incorrectly about the proper use of processes and profiles in Process Settings. I've developed a (bad?) habit of customizing & saving my process settings by associating them with different profiles. Are profiles intended to be changed infrequently (for example, having one p...

Re: Recovering Lost Processes

Oops! This is a case of operator error. I didn't realize that using S3D's Configuration Assistant added another profile which - because it contained none of my prior processes couldn't be expected to make them available to me.

Recovering Lost Processes

Hi. I've been printing with PETG for awhile and recently decided to experiment with a new filament. I decided it might be a good time to use S3D's Configuration Assistant to see if it could set me up with settings for this filament which were recommended for my particular printer (MakerGear M3-SE). ...

Re: PETG Shell Delamination on Printed Strap

...try an Extra Inflation Distance of anything other than zero. Thanks for the great suggestion. I took your advice and set the support material extra inflation distance to 1 mm. As expected this caused S3D to generate a 1 mm wider perimeter of support material under my protruding strap. Unfortunat...

Re: PETG Shell Delamination on Printed Strap

Thanks for your recommendations, wirlybird. Is it safe to assume that you're recommending I try increasing extrusion width vs. decreasing it to improve inter-layer bonding (along with slowing down print speed)? Interestingly, I ran a couple test prints in PETG of two straps of the same width and len...

PETG Shell Delamination on Printed Strap

Hi. I'm attempting to print a block from which a strap (approximately 1/16"x0.5"x6") protrudes from the center of one face. The strap requires support material under the 0.5" wide face above the build plate. I'm using a MakerGear M3 printer. This printed fine in PLA, but over tim...
