Re: How to use Filament Diameter Sensor with Simplify3D

You will set a "nominal diameter" in the Marlin configuration.h file. That is generally either 3.00 or 1.75, depending on what class filament you are using. You will also enter that same value (3.00 or 1.75) in your slicer. The slicer will create extrusion commands based on that nominal di...

Re: software-based flow control (3.1)

The 3.1 release notes specify "New firmware configuration option for using software-based flow control" .. Where is it ? WHAT is it ? It is on the "Tools, Firmware Configuration" panel. There is a "Flow Control" drop-down list there. Previous version had "No Flow ...

Re: Odd mid-print shift for a few layers

Check for a loose belt, binding in x or y axis, or overheated electronics. Do your stepper driver chips have heat sinks? Make sure they are in place, and make sure your electronics fan is running at speed. I had that exact problem, and found a stepper driver heat sink had fallen off the driver chip....

Re: Unwanted Pause After First Layer?

The start of your cooling fan, and the "blip fan to full power" option, can cause this type of delay. The "blip fan to full power" option starts the fan at full speed, PAUSES 500ms , then sets it to the desired speed. For example, here is the S3D-generated GCode where the fan is ...

Re: Broken - Perform retraction during wipe movment

Sorry to hear that, inventabuild. My guess why it works for me and doesn't for you is that the retraction logic is different for single vs dual extruders. With all other settings the same, and a positive value in "Tool change retraction distance", I get crazy long retractions when "Pe...

Re: Broken - Perform retraction during wipe movment

Just checking, did you try this specific combination? * Gcode tab, "Relative extrusion distances" DISABLED (unchecked) * Advanced tab, "Perform retraction during wipe movement" ENABLED (checked) * Advanced tab, "Tool change retraction distance" 0.00MM I ask because the ...

Re: Large blobs after retraction!

for whatever reason causes a retraction of exceedingly long distance. The wheel (lulzbot taz 5) spins like 1-2 FULL revolutions and then barely moves and deposits a large blob of filament. Three possible solutions: 1) On the Advanced tab, disable the "Perform retraction during wipe movement&qu...

Re: Broken - Perform retraction during wipe movment

I agree, it is a bug in 3.0.2. What solved it for me was changing the "Tool change retraction distance" to 0.00 on the Advanced tab. I first tried selecting the "Relative extrusion distances" option but that didn't help (apparently that doesn't work for all printers, despite some...

Re: Another newbie. Learning from Cura to Simplify3D - help

Look the main thing I am having trouble with is figuring out, what settings in Cura and the same in Simplify due to the different terminology used. Can someone please point me in the right direction by telling me, what is the relevant Simplify setting, to the below Cura setting: I'll take a crack a...

Re: Seeing your machine's bedplate in Simplify

In addition to having the machine model loaded under Printer Models on the Machine tab, also make sure you have the "Include build table in virtual environment" option checked on the Visualization tab.
