Measuring Distances / Ruler Feature for Models?

Is there a way to measure distances in 3d objects sliced by e3d?
ie using a ruler from point A to Point B?

I Just use the grid on the build table. Each of the small squares are 5mm apart, so you can get an estimate pretty quickly

I wrote an App to measure distances...

Example using it with Simplify3d... Click the image to run the video example.

Somewhat related,

I need to position models to avoid a particular spot on the build plate that is damaged and off center. Is there some way of translating the S3D coordinates into coordinates on the plate, or vice versa?

I've had to do this no end of times....

Ensure you have grid line spacings set on your bed (Options)...and simply use the Transform gismo...second button down RHS toolbar...to move the model to wherever you want so to avoid the damage on your bed. If you have more than one model to move, group them using the option on the Edit menu.

I think you can do this permanently using the X and Y toolhead offsets in Options.

I'd suggest using the origin offsets rather than the toolhead offsets if you're trying to move the entire build area. Also, remember to account for the loss of size and adjust your X / Y dimensions as well. IE moving all prints to the right 20mm will mean you need to subtract 20mm from your X dimension in the G-code tab.
