Multi zone heated bed

Hello all,

I am in the process of designing a large delta printer which will have a 600mm diameter circular print bed. Currently I am planning on using a dual zone heated bed. There will be an inner zone that covers a 300mm diameter in the center, and then a second zone that will be doughnut shaped that covers from 300mm - 600mm. I am planning to use a smoothieboard to control all of this, but my question is does simplify3d have built in support for this? While I could obviously have multiple profiles with different start/end g-codes to either activate only the inner zone or both zones depending on the size of the object I am printing, it would obviously be really nice to have simplify3d understand that if a print stays within the inner 300mm to only generate g-codes for the inner bed heater, and if the print will reach out into the outer area to generate g-codes for both zones.

Ideally it would also only generate g-codes for the outer zone by itself if for some reason my print only falls within that outer zone (perhaps printing a large tube or something).

I have tried to look around to see if simplify3d supports multi-zone beds automatically, but so far I haven't been able to find anything indicating that it does...

While I haven't purchased simplify3d yet (for my cheap-o printer cura is fine), after I am done with the design and build of this rather large delta, I do plan to purchase simplify3d, and I definitely will if it can give a good integration for multi-zone heated beds.

Thanks!

Re: Multi zone heated bed

S3D already supports multiple heated beds. I use it with a custom printer I built. You can add multiple heated beds into the software and even customize the exact commands that get sent (since I imagine some beds and controllers may require different commands)
