Crash due to special characters

Hello,
I have faced this problem several times:
When I have used any models with special characters in their filenames (I live in Germany, so many words have "Umlaut" like ä, ö, ü), then on next startup I get an error message "Failed to parse XML file" and all settings are reset to default, no model is imported and all processes I have configured are lost.
I would greatly appreciate if this could be fixed.
