Overhang treated like bottom solid layer

Hi,

i'm new with Simplify3D and i tried to print a part with an overhang. If you look at the picture you can see that the overhang was printed with bottom solid layers. I want it only to print with one outline. If i deactivate bottom solid layers the green parts are gone - but also i don't have a bottom ;-) Is there any possibility to deactivate the bottom solid layer for overhangs without deactivating it for the whole part? (The problem is that this way my part would be too heavy)

Thanks a lot!

Re: Overhang treated like bottom solid layer

You can reduce the number of bottom solid layers if you want the decrease the floor thickness. Another option is to increase the number of perimeter outlines. That will make the software prefer perimeters vs solid layers.

However, if you have something like 6 bottom solid layers and only 2 perimeter outlines, the software WILL add these solid sections on steep overhangs. It has to, otherwise you wouldn't be respecting the number of bottom solid layers that you requested.

If you have tried decreasing the bottom solid layers, and increasing the number of perimeters, and neither worked, you can create a second process for the overhang section of your model so that you can use different settings for it: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/tuto ... f-a-model/

I think i have to use two different processes. I tried this but at the end height of Process 1 (Stop printing at height) it always prints a solid diaphragm. Is there a way to deactivate this without deactivating Top (Process 1) and Bottom (Process 2) solid layers? (I have several steps in my part and without a top solid layer - i don't have a top solid layer at the other steps ;-))
