Make the ball solid and set an infill of say 25%, top solid layers say 4, bottom solid layers the same, and Outline perimeter shells say 3. Let the slicer do all the work for you.

I find that lowering the resolution creates a more solid join when curving like yours.

I have a similar problem but what I did was made my part solid and used a 10% infill which acts more like a support structure.

I have had even better success with a 0.2 mm nozzle on my wanhao D4S.
