Re: my object is hollow?

There is a hole in the bottom of the model so it is actually a shell. For a 3d model to be considered a "solid" it must fully enclose a volume of space. Fill the hole then "repair" and it will become a solid and print with infill.

Tried it, Done it, it worked :-)

Re: my object is hollow?

Hi Larry,

You could open the factory-file?
Normally a hollow object doesn't makes difficults when there is a outer-wall and an inner-wall (like a cup or glass) Then the outside and the inside together represent the enclosed solid body. If it is not so, S3D opens nevertheless - ok, it is not ready to print, but it opens!
However that is the first time, I couldn't open a faulty file like this.

Have a look to this site:

https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/

there you can repair your STL for free, it works very fine!

It opened just fine for me. When I sliced it, it was hollow with inner and outer shells just like a crystal goblet. It printed that way as well. I was tempted to let it run to see how far it could go ( the print) but I could see that it was not going to work.

I plugged the hole with 3D Builder (microsoft) and then the model sliced as a solid with infill.
